Reset GPS on Android

Normally we will not use third party apps, but in this case we make an exception as otherwise it may be difficult or impossible to fix the GPS on an Android phone. Below you can see a video guide on how to reset your GPS with the app GPS Status & Toolbox.

  • Open Google Play Store
  • Search for GPS Status & Toolbox (you can also open the link on your phone and go directly to the app)
  • Tap Install
  • Open the app when it has finished installing
  • You will be asked if you want to allow the app to use GPS. Just press Allow Always - you can change it or uninstall the app afterwards
  • Open the menu by swiping from the left side of the screen towards the center
  • Press Manage A-GPS mode
  • Press Reset - wait while the app resets the phone's GPS
  • Restart your phone

If it is not possible to download the app, you can do the following instead:

  • Open Google Maps on the phone
  • Press the blue circle showing where you are
  • Press calibrate on the menu that shows up
  • Follow the guide on the phone, asking you to scan around you
  • Restart your phone
